Harford County Jewish Facts

  • 87% Jews are not affiliated with any synagogue.
  • "I am one of the only Jews in Harford County" an often repeated Mantra
  • Over 65% of Jews living in Harford County are an Intermarried or Interfaith Couple
  • For over 50 Years there was only one established Synagogue in Harford County.

Because of these facts, there was a need for an additional resource for local Jews. With the help of Chabad Lubavitch of Maryland, The Chabad Jewish Center of Harford County was born.

The Chabad Jewish Center of Harford County is accepting of all people regardless of background and/or affiliation. At Chabad our mantra is "A Jew is a Jew - No Labels". Chabad is a place where young and old, singles and families, Jewish partners in interfaith marriages, Jews whether gay and straight all feel at home to explore Judaism and make it theirs.

There are no prerequisites for getting involved with Chabad, whether you are affiliated or not, have much Jewish background or none, you are always welcome to try one or all of our programs. We are here to serve you and we will do our best to help you and your family. You do not have to be a member at Chabad, you do not even have to agree with everything Chabad says or does - you just have to be Jewish - and you automatically belong.

Every Chabad center creates and runs programs based on what is in the best interest of the local community - trying to cater to their needs and what it can afford to do (since each location is locally funded (to Donate click here).

Here are some programs offered by Chabad in different cities: Adult Education,  Communal Lectures, Holiday programs, Jewish Art Calendar, Synagogue, Lending Library, Hebrew School, Youth & Teen Groups, After School Programs, Camp Gan Israel, Women’s Group, Mitzvah campaign, Mezuzah and Tefillin Checking, Marriage Prep, Mikvah, Kitchen Koshering, Hospital & Prison visitations, Funeral Services, Crisis Counseling.

Even if we do not currently provide any of these programs we may be able to facilitate them for you.

I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in person.
