Cindy Lutz Kornet has been teaching art at Yeshiva Academy in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, for ten years. She believes all students are creative by nature and need only a guiding, loving hand and heart to give them permission to soar. Beyond inspiration, she likes to provide materials, demonstrate how to use them and then let the students’ work that its own direction.

Receiving the Ten Commandments
This painting is beautiful and deeply moving. It's very hard to capture the long-ago abstract event of the Giving of the Torah. It's abstract because it is distant in time and was essentially (as we learn about it) a collective event. We learn about how powerful and awesome it was, but it's hard for us to identify with these emotions to the point where we can feel them as they (we) felt them then.
This is the first time a painting of that momentous event made me Feel something of the awe and the majesty - first looking at it, I felt something of the fear and the trembling - hard to express but it's all there. Thank you, Cindy Lutz Kornet, for this painting and for all your beautiful and inspiring work.
