Summary: This series will address anti-Semitism, assimilation, lessons from the Holocaust, the chosen people, and Jewish pride. This is an opportunity to see if you can embrace your Jewish identity in a modern world.

Description: From the ghettos and pogroms of the Middle Ages, to the concentration camps in Europe, to Islamic terror all across the world today, Jews have been beaten, attacked, and singled out for destruction. The hateful rhetoric on college campuses, in the media, and all over the Internet seems to get worse by the day. Even modern Israel lives under constant threat and has to fight for the right to exist. Why is it that ever since the dawn of the Jewish nation, there have been people who tried to destroy us? For what reason or purpose are the Jews still here? Would the world be any different if the Jews didn’t exist?

About the Shabbaton

The International CTeen Shabbaton is an annual weekend retreat for Jewish teens from around the world. For the past eight years, thousands of teens have forged new friendships while experiencing a meaningful Shabbat, all in one of the most exciting cities in the world- New York City.

G‑d willing, this year's Shabbaton will take place in New York on February 24-26th.

Some of this year's Shabbaton features include: hitting the tourist hot spots, visiting Jewish attractions throughout Brooklyn, the CTeen Choice Awards, and singing and dancing at a massive concert in the heart of Times Square!

Building on the incredible success of the past Shabbatons, this year's fresh program and revised itinerary promise to be unmatched.

Prepare for an unforgettable weekend of excitement. A weekend of friendship and memories. A weekend of inspiration, Jewish pride, and unity. Prepare for the International Cteen Shabbaton.

Highlights

Program begins 8:00 AM Friday morning and ends at 4:00 PM Sunday .

Friday:

Tour the Big Apple's diverse landmarks and attractions with a variety of exciting tracks.

Uplifting Shabbat:

Enjoy spirited Shabbat meals, services and exciting activities. Interact with Jewish celebrities.

Saturday Night:

Head out to party in the heart of the city that never sleeps.

Sunday:

Explore your heritage with a taste of tradition and, of course, lots of shopping! Pray at the Rebbe's Ohel (resting place). End off the weekend at the Farewell Banquet, which will feature delicious food and the much anticipated CTeen Choice Awards.

The CTeen International Shabbaton is open to all Jewish teens in the community, regardless of affiliation.

CTeen is a social club where teens learn about themselves and their heritage through giving to others and participating in interactive, hands-on activities. With over 200 chapters, in 19 countries, CTeen is the fastest growing network for Jewish teens.

Summary: This course will explore Judaism’s approach to morally “sticky situations” that we encounter in different areas of life—from shopping ethics to medical care dilemmas to the proper ways to helping the underprivileged.

Description: Judaism has a lot to say about questions of ethics and morality. In this series, you teens will explore ethical questions and moral dilemmas that arise in different areas of life, often comparing and contrasting Jewish and secular law and values. In this course, you will be challenged to solve some perplexing, hotly contested problems. Does my moral obligation to help the poor mean that I have to give a needy person an iPad or a TV—in addition to food and clothing? Is it ethical to take a sick person off of life support if that is what the person wants? Can I keep money or objects that I find on the street?
